Description

This collection comprises three individually framed items of British ephemera dating from the mid-19th century. The first item is a manuscript receipt dated 20 January 1857, London, detailing a financial transaction between Charles Jaques Esq. and Charles Foy Esq. of Dedham, signed by R.D. Henningson and Co. It features later pencil inscriptions including Dear old fellow Oct 1898 and Memento. The second item is a manuscript subscription list dated 26 April 1838, titled List of Subscribers to a Snuff Box Presented to L. M. Wolfe Esq. The document contains two columns of names and firms including Foster and Braithwaite, Wells and Son, and Hutchinson and Son. The third item is a partly-printed Bank of England document dated 8 September 1846 for Consolidated 3 per Cent. Annuities. It acknowledges receipt of 134 pounds 16s 6d from Mr. Philip Cormouls and references the reign of King George II. All three items are presented in simple wooden frames with light blue mounts and glazing. The reverse of the central frame bears a printed provenance label reading 0341 PROPERTY OF S.V. (A.M.).
