Description
An extensive collection of British Royal commemorative items spanning over a century. The ceramic portion includes a transfer-printed creamware mug for the Coronation of King George V and Queen Mary, dated June 22nd, 1911, featuring royal monograms; a colourful transfer-printed mug produced for the intended coronation of King Edward VIII; a James Sadler Diamond Jubilee mug (1952–2012) in its original presentation box; and a blue-and-white commemorative plate celebrating the life of Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother (1900–2002).
The ephemera and publications include official souvenir programmes for the 1977 Silver Jubilee and the 1981 Royal Wedding of Prince Charles and Lady Diana Spencer, a Radio Times Silver Jubilee souvenir issue from June 1977, and a Daily Mail Wedding Eve special newspaper titled Wedding Fever! from July 1981. Notable documents include a Buckingham Palace letter on official stationery dated 6th May 1977, addressed to Ray Forster Esq. regarding the Magnolia Jubilee Festival and signed by Robert Janvrin, and a Magnolia Jubilee Festival commemorative certificate issued to Matthew Aers dated 7th June 1977. Also included is a colour portrait photograph of Diana, Princess of Wales.
The postal history consists of a collection of First Day Covers and commemorative stamp sheets. Notable examples include covers for the 60th Birthday of Queen Elizabeth II (April 21, 1986) postmarked Croydon, Surrey; covers for the Wedding of Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles (April 8, 2005); and various sheets featuring Prince William, the Queen Mother, and historical monarchical scenes.
