Lot 17:
Description
Original Pair from Canterbury Cathedral. A pair of hand-carved light-coloured stone architectural elements, likely corbels or decorative brackets. Each piece features a traditional multi-stepped profile with ogee-style curves. The units are designed with a flat back and base, indicating intended installation against or within a masonry wall. Small circular indentations are present on the side faces, which likely served as historical mounting points for metal pins or fixings. The reverse of each stone bears the handwritten inventory number 926 in black ink. The stone displays a natural granular texture consistent with sandstone or limestone. 18cm tall, 17cm wide
