Description
A pair of graduated silver-plated and cut glass claret jugs, in the style of Leonard, Italy. The jugs feature clear glass bodies with sharp diamond or hobnail cut decoration to the lower bulbous sections and vertical fluted cuts to the waisted necks. Each vessel is fitted with an ornate silver-plated mount comprising a decorative C-scroll handle with foliate and scroll motifs, a hinged domed lid topped with a pointed finial, and a collar finished with a rope-twist border at the base. The taller jug has an elongated, tapered profile, while the shorter jug has a squatter, more cylindrical base. Both lids are marked SILVERPLATED and ITALY to the underside of the thumbpiece base.
