Description

A set of four pen and wash pictures, by the Jersey artist Edmund Blampied (1886–1966). The collection depicts various rural and equestrian scenes: a man and child with a running dog (numbered VI), two horses interacting (numbered V), figures loading a hay cart (numbered II), and a driver with a horse-drawn cart (numbered VIII). Each composition exhibits the artist’s characteristic sketchy line work and the velvety burr typical of drypoint. Distinct plate marks define the boundaries of each work. All prints are signed in the plate; one is inscribed E. BLAMPIED 1925, and another includes a small square artist’s seal. The prints are presented in simple black frames with pinkish-tan mounts and wooden backboards. 31×26.5cm
