Description
This lot comprises a trio of whimsical mid-century nursery illustrations, appearing to be offset lithographs. The set features anthropomorphic animals, resembling raccoons or lemurs with ringed tails, in various tropical scenarios. The first print depicts the animals in a fruit-form aeroplane towed through the sky by a large parrot over a coastline. The second scene shows the characters inhabiting a thatched-roof hut alongside a tall yellow flamingo. The third illustration features a musical performance with the animals playing instruments alongside a smiling snake and a singing parrot. Each print bears a stylised script signature in the lower corner reading Elbe. The prints are housed in their original period black tape-bound frames. The reverse of each frame carries a paper label from the Boots Pure Drug Co. Ltd. Picture Framing Department, indicating a United Kingdom retail origin. 19x27cm
