Description
A pair of character portraits executed in graphite on toned wove paper. The first work depicts the head and shoulders of an Indigenous Australian man with a thick beard and headband. The second work shows an elderly man in a brimmed hat against a background featuring a rural shack and fence. Both drawings are signed lower right: B. Grundy. The second drawing is additionally inscribed with the title THE CEDAR CUTTER in capital letters above the signature. The drawings are mounted within matching dark wood frames with gilt-finished inner slips and are protected by glass. The verso of each frame is finished with brown backing paper and a brass hanging loop. 32.5×30.5cm
