Description
A Belleek Fermanagh vase of cornucopia-inspired form. The vessel features a flared and ruffled shell-like rim, decorated with a pale pink lustre wash and finished with a fine hand-painted gilt line to the edge. The body is detailed with vertical ribbing and raised scrolled acanthus leaf relief work, terminating in a similarly scrolled integral base. The underside of the base bears a blue printed factory mark featuring a round tower, Irish harp, and wolfhound, with a banner inscribed BELLEEK and CO. FERMANAGH IRELAND below. This mark indicates production between 1980 and 1993. Also present is a hand-painted brown K mark and a partially preserved original paper label which reads FERMANAGH / VASE / Q.C. 2 / 0538. 14cm tall
