Lot 47:
Description
A pair of carved figurines depicting traditional Chinese guardian lions, also known as Foo Dogs. The items are fashioned from a translucent, light mint-green stone, possibly serpentine or bowenite, displaying natural internal veining and slight cloudiness. Each figure is depicted in a seated posture with characteristic stylized features including a tightly curled mane, prominent bulging eyes, a broad snout, and paws with defined claws. The carving is detailed, particularly across the textured manes and tails. The surfaces exhibit a smooth, polished finish, while the deeper, recessed areas of the carving retain a more matte appearance. The undersides of the bases are flat and show no visible reign marks, signatures, or inscriptions. 6cm tall
