Description
This lot comprises of antique and vintage metalware, primarily constructed from copper and brass, including decorative, functional, and commemorative pieces. The group features a substantial copper and brass jardinière or coal scuttle of bulbous form with a pierced brass gallery rim, scroll motifs, twin handles, and three cast lion’s paw feet. A large copper tea kettle with a wooden grip handle is included alongside a miniature kettle and a tall, tapered copper water pitcher with a brass-mounted rim and handle. The collection includes three pieces of etched white metal over copper or brass, comprising a pair of bulbous lidded pots and a tall ewer, each decorated with intricate floral and architectural engravings featuring mosque scenes. Scientific and lighting items include a ship’s wheel barometer, a smaller brass-cased barometer and thermometer, an Aladdin style oil lamp, a large hand bell with an ornate handle, and an assortment of brass candlesticks in various sizes. Figural items consist of a cast brass elephant and a small dog figurine. Also present is a vintage-style three-blade decorative fan with a copper-toned finish, a pair of brass finger cymbals joined by a cord, a hammered brass cream jug, and a small rectangular tray with an embossed scene. The lot is completed by two flat irons, one with a teal-painted base marked No. 4 and another traditional cast iron example with a wooden handle, accompanied by two decorative brass trivets featuring pierced bird and geometric designs.
