Description
A hand-knotted wool rug in the Persian Nain style. The design features a large, multi-lobed floral central medallion set within an open powder blue field. The field is further decorated with scrolling foliate vines, floral sprays, and palmettes in shades of navy blue, gold, terracotta red, and olive green. The composition is framed by a broad cream-coloured border featuring repeating floral motifs, set between narrower decorative guard borders. The rug is constructed with a wool pile hand-knotted onto a cotton foundation, with visible white cotton fringe at the shorter ends. The weave appears uniform and relatively dense, consistent with workshop production. 166x123cm
