Description
A collection of assorted table lamp bases featuring various classical and neoclassical designs. The assortment includes a large neoclassical style urn-form base in cast composition with a cream finish, decorated with acanthus leaf moulding and a flared rim. There is a carved white alabaster urn-form base set on a square plinth with foliate carving, currently missing its bulb holder assembly. The group also contains a slender, ornate cast composition column base with scroll and foliate details in an off-white finish, a pale green onyx urn-form base with a stepped circular foot, a small white alabaster base with a spiral-twist body, and a tall fluted column-form base in cast composition with a cream-painted finish. The materials used in construction include natural stones such as alabaster, marble, and onyx, as well as cast composition and resin. The electrical fittings are a combination of brass and white plastic bayonet (B22) types. No maker’s marks, signatures, or labels were found on the bases. Tallest 43.5cm
