Description
This carved wooden wall-hanging figure originates from Bali, Indonesia, and is rendered in the Balinese Art Deco style associated with the mid-20th century. The figure is crafted from dark-stained wood and depicts a stylized deity or traditional dancer with characteristic elongated proportions. It features an elaborate traditional headdress known as a gelung, large circular ear ornaments, and a patterned sarong decorated with incised geometric motifs. Gold-toned paint highlights the crown, jewellery, and garment borders. The reverse of the plaque is flat-carved with visible tool marks and includes a wire loop for wall mounting. Faint numerical marks, possibly reading 90 or 80, are present in ink or pencil on the side of the left foot. 102cm tall
