The rims are finished with a broad gilded band. The reverse of each plate bears a square mark with a cobalt blue ground and gold border containing the characters 栄和謹製 (Eiwa Kinsei), which translates as ‘Respectfully made by Eiwa’, with the word JAPAN printed below in gold.
