Description

A collection of porcelain invalid feeding cups, traditionally utilised for administering liquids or soft foods to patients and infants. Each vessel is of characteristic bulbous form, featuring a partially covered top, a side handle, and a tapered feeding spout.

The collection includes a variety of decorative styles and origins:

One cup is decorated with transfer-printed and hand-tinted floral sprays of pink roses and garden flowers, finished with gilt highlights to the rim and spout. The base is marked MADE IN ENGLAND in green.

One cup features a traditional underglaze blue and white pattern in the Onion (Zwiebelmuster) style. The base bears a green factory mark for Königlich privilegierte Porzellanfabrik Tettau, Germany, consisting of the letter T within a shield beneath a crown.

One cup is decorated with a spray of purple and yellow flowers, resembling pansies or violets, with gilt line-work to the spout. The base is marked MAW in blue, the mark of the well-known English medical and pharmaceutical supplier S. Maw, Son & Sons.

One cup displays a border of small pink roses around the shoulder and a gilt rim. The base has a green circular factory mark topped with a crown, which is partially illegible.
