Description
A pair of English earthenware handled vases manufactured by Arthur Wood and Sons as part of their Royal Bradwell line in the Astoria pattern. Each vase is of flared trumpet form with a scalloped rim and an angular handle, standing on a circular pedestal base. The exterior features a mottled pink lustre ground decorated with a transfer-printed floral spray, hand-coloured with a prominent yellow flower and green foliage. A stylised geometric and floral border is applied to the interior of the scalloped rims. The underside of each vase bears a black transfer-printed factory mark comprising the pattern name ASTORIA, the line name Royal Bradwell, and a globe graphic with a banner reading ARTHUR WOOD, above the words MADE IN ENGLAND. 24cm tall
