Description
A collection of ceramic jugs from various periods and manufacturers, ranging from the mid-19th century to the modern day. The group includes a Victorian relief-moulded earthenware jug of tall, tapered form with a foliated handle and scalloped rim. This piece is decorated with a figural scene titled Naomi and Her Daughters-in-Law and bears a British diamond registration mark to the base dating the design to April 1847. Also present is a Royal Doulton earthenware landscape jug of tapered cylindrical form, featuring a black transfer-printed rural scene with a figure and horse set against a yellow-glazed ground. The base is marked with the Royal Doulton factory stamp and the impressed number 8061. The collection further contains an octagonal faceted creamer in the Westover pattern, manufactured by Davidson and Son (Burslem) Ltd. This piece features blue and white transfer-printed landscape scenes with overglaze polychrome highlights, with a registration number dating the pattern to circa 1928. A provincial mid-19th century creamer of multi-faceted form is hand-painted in the Gaudy Welsh style with vibrant floral sprays, featuring a green-painted handle with a moulded mask-head at the upper terminal. Finally, the lot includes a modern hand-painted stoneware jug in the majolica style by Henriksen Imports, modelled with relief lotus flowers and pads and a handle formed as a budding stem.
